Non-Resident Scholarships

Who are non-residents?

Non-residents are students who are not residents of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, or Texas. If you are a resident of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, or Texas, please visit the Quad State Scholarship page for more information.

Incoming Freshman

Incoming freshmen that live on campus and have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and a 25 composite ACT score may be eligible for a scholarship waiving 50% of their nonresident tuition. Nonresident tuition is $280 per hour, in addition to in-state tuition. Students are still responsible for paying in-state tuition. This program waives only a percentage of the nonresident portion. Interested students must complete a general scholarship application by August 3, 2020.

Transfer Students

Transfer students that live on campus and have a minimum 2.75 GPA may be eligible for a scholarship waiving 50% of their nonresident tuition. Nonresident tuition is $280 per hour, in addition to in-state tuition. Students are still responsible for paying in-state tuition. This program waives only a percentage of the nonresident portion. Interested students must complete a general scholarship application by August 3, 2020.

Graduate Students

Graduate Students that live on campus and are regularly admitted to the graduate college may be eligible for a scholarship waiving 50% of their nonresident tuition. Nonresident tuition is $305.50 per hour, in addition to in-state tuition. Students are still responsible for paying in-state tuition. This program waives only a percentage of the nonresident portion. Interested students must complete a general scholarship application by August 3, 2020.

Legacy Students

A legacy student is an undergraduate or graduate student whose parent or grandparent earned a degree (bachelor’s or master’s degree) from NSU. Legacy students that meet undergraduate or graduate regular admission requirements (not admitted alternatively, on probation, or conditionally) may qualify to have 50% of their nonresident tuition waived. There is no on-campus residency requirement for Legacy students beyond freshman year, however, it is highly encouraged. Interested students must complete a general scholarship application by August 3, 2020.

Tribal Heritage

Undergraduate and graduate students that are members of a federally recognized tribe may be eligible for a nonresident tuition waiver. Students that meet undergraduate or graduate regular admission requirements (not admitted alternatively, on probation, or conditionally) may qualify to have 100% of their nonresident tuition waived. Uploading a copy of the student’s tribal citizenship card is required. There is no on-campus residency requirement for Tribal Heritage students beyond freshman year, however, it is highly encouraged. Interested students must complete a general scholarship application by August 3, 2020.
