Great News! We have Automatic Scholarships!


In-state students admitted for Summer or Fall 2026 by February 1, 2026, will automatically be awarded one of our four-year academic waivers if they qualify! Want an early scholarship offer? If you are admitted by December 1, 2025, and you qualify for one of the scholarships below, you will receive an offer by the end of December.

*Students admitted after the February 1 deadline will only be awarded if funds are available.
Must be an Oklahoma Resident to receive these waivers.
Students can be awarded only one of the above tuition waivers and must meet both requirements for each scholarship.
Official ACT Superscores provided by ACT will be accepted for scholarship consideration.
Out-of-state students are only eligible for our foundation scholarships.

The General Scholarship Application for the 2026-2027 Academic Year 

This application will be added to the students' admissions portal upon admission, and a notification will be sent out when this happens. IF you are already admitted, you can log into admissions.nsuok.edu/apply/status, and you will find the scholarship application in the forms section. It will say 'Apply for Scholarships'. 

This application puts students in the running for our foundation scholarships, which vary in requirements and amounts. They are available to both in-state and out-of-state students. This one application will place you in the running for 98% of the foundation scholarships that you qualify for.

This application also puts new out-of-state freshmen in the running for our Out-of-State tuition waivers.

Deadline: March 1 for foundation scholarships

Deadline: August 1 for out-of-state scholarships

 

 

HONORS SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Honors Scholarship Application for the 2026-2027 academic year is now closed! The Honors Scholarship Application for incoming freshmen attending NSU for the first time in the Summer or Fall of 2027 will open up in September 2026. 

The Honors Program at Northeastern State University is a challenging educational option for academically talented students who enjoy learning. Honor students work with distinguished faculty members and peers in enhanced courses, pursue independent research, and participate in co-curricular cultural experiences. One benefit of being an Honors Student can include receiving one of our three academic honors scholarships. 

By completing this application, you are applying for all three NSU Honors Scholarships:

  • Baccalaureate Scholars
    • Each year, a select number of entering freshmen from the state of Oklahoma are selected as Baccalaureate Scholars. Students must demonstrate exceptional academic achievements while in high school. Eligibility is based on GPA or status as a National Merit Semifinalist or Commended Student.
  • Oklahoma Rising Scholars (formerly known as Academic Scholars)
    • Oklahoma students automatically qualify for the Oklahoma Rising Scholars Program by being named a Presidential Scholar by the United States Department of Education, a National Merit Scholar or National Merit Finalist, or by scoring in the 99th percentile of the American College Testing Program. In addition to automatic qualifiers, seven additional academic scholars are selected each year. 
  • Northeastern Honors Scholars
    • Each year, a select number of entering freshmen are selected as Northeastern Honors Scholars. Students must demonstrate exceptional academic achievements while in high school.

Each Honors scholarship has a tuition waiver that will cover up to 18 hours of tuition each semester, a $1500 housing waiver (for on-campus housing only) per semester, and a cash stipend that varies per scholarship ($1750 Baccalaureate, $1600 Oklahoma Rising Scholar, $500 Northeastern Honors) that will apply each semester. Non-Oklahoma NHS students' tuition waiver will cover out-of-state tuition, and they will still be responsible for in-state tuition.

*Academic Scholars and Baccalaureate Scholars can only be awarded to Oklahoma residents.
Students can receive only one of the scholarships listed above.

Oklahoma Rising Scholars (formerly known as Academic Scholars)

Honors Application Deadline: February 1
Students must be admitted by the scholarship deadline.

Late interested applicants (after February 1st) can email scholarships@nsuk.edu for late consideration, but they will be considered after all applicants who applied by the scholarship deadline of February 1st, which may result in not hearing back about an offer until June or July.  

 

 

President's Leadership Class Scholarship Information

The President's Leadership Class Scholarship Application for the 2026-2027 academic year is now closed! The PLC Scholarship Application for incoming freshmen attending NSU for the first time in the Summer or Fall of 2027 will open up in September of 2026.

If you display outstanding leadership capabilities and have an exceptionally strong academic record, the President's Leadership Class scholarship could be for you! The President's Leadership Class (PLC) is a unique leadership/scholarship program designed to cultivate outstanding potential in proven student leaders. 

Scholarship Requirements Amount Per Year Duration
President's Leadership Class* 22 (1100-1120 SAT) AND 3.5 GPA $12,469 4 Years

*This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen only.
The PLC Scholarship provides a tuition waiver covering up to 18 hours of tuition per semester, a $1,200 housing waiver (for on-campus housing only) per semester, and a $800 cash stipend per semester. Recipients must live on campus for their first two years at NSU. Non-Oklahoma PLC students' tuition waiver will cover out-of-state tuition, and they will still be responsible for in-state tuition. In very limited cases, non-Oklahoma PLC students may have some or all of their in-state tuition covered, subject to the availability of private funding.
