Alumni Legacy Scholarship

Alumni Legacy Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen

Since 1998, the NSU Alumni Association has awarded Legacy Scholarships to students of Northeastern's alumni. Given annually, this scholarship is awarded to one first-time entering freshmen selected by a committee of Alumni Association board members. The Legacy Scholarship award is $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years, assuming academic and service requirements are maintained.

Qualified applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • High school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must plan to enroll full-time (at least 12 hours) at NSU.
  • Must have a parent, legal guardian, or grandparent with 60 credit hours or more or a master's degree or higher from NSU OR a sibling with a bachelor's degree or higher from NSU.

Preference will be given to applicants who are the children of active NSU Alumni Association members.

To be considered, students want to complete the General Freshmen Scholarship Application by March 1 and select the statement: "I have an immediate family member who graduated from or attended NSU." Right before the Summer begins, students will receive an additional application for this scholarship from the Alumni Association.
