GRDA - NSU Undergraduate Research Stipend

GRDA-NSU $500 Undergraduate Research Stipend

The GRDA-NSU $500 Research Stipend has been designed to provide two students at Northeastern State University (Tahlequah Campus) with research opportunities with biologists of the GRDA Scenic Rivers and Watershed Research Laboratory during the fall 2020 semester. Research stipends will be appointed on a semester basis. 

If selected, the student will be required to register for one research credit (GRDA-NSU Scenic Rivers and Watershed Research Lab). The student will be working on the Town Branch Creek water quality monitoring project. The student will learn how to take stream flow and process/read bacteria results. The student will also learn how to collect biological (macroinvertebrates) and water samples in the field, as well as learn how to process biological samples (sorting and general identification) and run water quality tests (nutrient testing). The student will be required to come to the lab a minimum of 7 weeks (Approx. 2-3 hours of work per week) throughout the semester to collect and process samples. A lab techniques exam and a short research paper will be required to be submitted at the end of the semester.  

Student must be a freshman or sophomore. 

GPA: 2.5
